And so, after the relative success of Fire Emblem Gaiden, Intelligent Systems I decided to leave hopelessly outdated Famicom (NES) and develop the game already on the new Super Famicom (Snes), which came out at the same time as the original Fire Emblem (amazing, isn’t it). The whole creative process spun around immediately after the Gaiden release. Despite their study and quality in general, many could miss the second game in the line, or even the whole series, one of the reasons for which is the obsolescence of the console. Therefore, Intelligent Systems decided that other developers rarely choose. They decided to show the very first Fire Emblem, but already more advanced and modified, on a new console and with new features. Shozo Kaga again at the head of the development, and Ganpeya Yokoi also on the site of the producer of the project, with several new persons for additional assistance. Winding and improving everything that was possible and what there was enough imagination, they release Fire Emblem Monshou No Nazo Or Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem, published in 1994, which was largely the same Fire Emblem, who loved fans, but with its innovations.

Mystery of the Emblem became a remake and at the same time a sequel, containing two full -fledged campaigns in one game, finished stories divided into books 1 and 2. This essentially increased the duration of passage by half. And despite the fact that SNES was, of course, a more powerful gaming platform, she still could not fit so much information on one cartridge, so the developers’ team had to make the necessary sacrifices – five full -fledged cards and six characters were ruthlessly cut out to free up the second book. But this does not mean that the game was lacking in content, but rather, the content beat over the edge. Each book was created separately from each other, different teams, which was reflected at once on several things.

Firstly, it was music. The fact is that book 1 and 2 have different, unique musical accompaniment. While the soundtrack from the original Fire Emblem was pumped into the first book, becoming more complicated and interesting, more … 16-bit in general. Then for the second book composer of past parts Yuka Tsujioko She broke up and created new wonderful compositions, much less injured by the speakers of SNES. Now the ears no longer hurt after many hours of gameplay, and all thanks to the talent of the composer … and Neksten.

Secondly, it is a narrative component. As already mentioned, the narrative in the game is mainly conducted through the characters dialogs at the beginning, middle and end of each mission. And the fact is that in the first book the quality of dialogs and their semantic component has changed little (although it is a little difficult to say, given that the play with a fan translation was compared – an attempt to compare the Japanese did not bring tangible results). In the first book, only a brief description was added before the start of each chapter, but in the details of the plot or Laura of the world no one deepened. Another thing was with the second book – the dialogs between the characters sometimes lasted for several minutes, in addition to the continent of Arkanei overgrown with details and details, so that everything became deeper and more developed, and you begin to believe in the world stronger.

The people who were responsible for the picture in Gaiden are again engaged in the design of the characters and other art design – Toshitaka Muramatsu And Naetaka hunting. Well, what can you say? It turned out pretty good. And for 1994, all the more wonderful. The design of the characters became more colorful, and even in some way motley. Many characters had a redesign (thanks for the pants of Mars), and in general, units added in details: both in the concept of art and in springs. Despite the fact that the artists did not change from the previous part, there are still stylistic differences from their previous work in Gaiden, so they did not bring a common style for the entire series ..

The first book retold history Shadow Dragon And The Blade of Light Almost literally, with some changes, and the second book is a direct continuation, with new characters, in addition to the old ones, united to defeat the dragon and save the world. Despite the story that remained plus or minus at the same level, the game has stepped forward otherwise. The graphics by itself was improved, 8-bit sprites gave way to young and fragile 16-bit, allowing you to portray the characters more vividly and colorful. Well, now, directly about the filling of the game, and the first in line with us is a story that, as always, is deeper than it seems at first glance.

As already mentioned, the third part of Fire Emblem is both a remake of the first part and its direct continuation – the game consists of two books telling the history of the “War of the Shadows” in the first, and the history of the “War of Heroes” in the second, respectively. And since we already know what happened during the war of the shadows, I do not see the point of retelling the plot again, moreover, in a few years, it is not too overgrown with details and still remains rustic. But there is an important clarification: from the game, as I already said, five chapter was thrown out to save the system’s memory, they have almost no semantic load, and therefore they could easily be sacrificed. These chapters from the first book: Chapter 4 “Battle of Lea”, chapter 9 “Dragon Pirati”, chapter 13 “Wooden Cavalry”, Chapter 18 “Sobole detachment”, chapter 21 “Fight in Macedon”. Six characters also fell under the knife: VRYS (Wrys), Darros (Darros), Roger, Jake (Jake), Beck (Beck) And Goto (getoh)(In fact, there is ready in the game, but is no longer a playable character). And also some units have changed the conditions for joining. The most important thing is the presence of a continuation in the form of a second book. About this plot and talk.

But, at first, we will slightly refresh the previous events in memory. On the continent of Arkaney, the war broke out – the ancient dragon Medeus from the cursed country, moved his troops towards other states. He concluded unions with someone, and the others-ruthlessly destroyed. Altea, a small kingdom, fell a victim of betrayal, and the young prince Mars, fled with a handful of knights to later gather an independent army from many allies, overthrow the despotistical traitors and enemies of the alteus, and ultimately kill Medeus with a magic sword of fake, granted to humanity by the goddess Naked. Also in the old plot there were several details and clarifications. For example, here we are finally told that Mars fled from his native state when he was 16, and in Talis he spent 2 years. Also, the dialogs became a little more informative, but in general, nothing fundamental in the plot and its presentation changed. As for the allies attached to us, who were in the cut chapters, they were simply transferred to others. For example, we recruit the city hall not in chapter 4, but in 5. Well, it also works with other units.

And so, since we dealt with this, now it is worth understanding the political alignment of forces. At the beginning and campaign of the game, they explain it to us, but for convenience, I will do it now. Arkaneya, the most powerful state on the continent, was left without a king, only Princess Nina controls the strange, but the nobility, in particular Bishop Boa, convinces her to marry. As a result, the younger brother of the ruler of Aurelis – Hardin becomes the new king of Arcane. Altea, Kadein, Aurelis and Talis are trying to recover (the latter were affected by the war to a lesser extent). The lice was weakened the most and at the time of the second book is in a deplorable state. Hardin, who became the emperor Arcane as soon as possible, restored the state and was able to collect a strong army. In Altea, people rejoiced at the imminent wedding of Mars and Keda, but the festival is overshadowed by a message from Hardin. He wants Mars with his knights to suppress the uprisings in the grast, and since Altea is considered to be a vassal of Arcane, then a refusal of unacceptable. There is nothing to do – the prince gathers troops and goes to the expedition.

Until this moment, I did not delve into the theme of the characters (since they were cardboard blanks), but about some of them who have a direct impact on the plot, it is still worth telling. Of course, they are not yet as well spelled out as in future parts, but still important for the narrative. Let’s go in order:

Mars (Marth) – We have already met the prince of Altea without pants (though, in the next part, the artists still painted them, so it is worth saying thanks to them). The chief protagonist of the Arcane saga. Young and naive idealist who seeks to return his homeland and fill up the evil dragon in the first book. By the way, his character by the beginning of the second book has not changed in any way, so it remains a piece of meat that all protects.

KADA (Caeda) – Princess Talisa, a beauty, unusually devoted to Mars, so much that she is ready to die for him. In the first part, it falls in love with it, and already at the time of the second book, is the bride of the prince. By the way, both in the first game, and here, the loss of the kaeda on the battlefield, at least somehow affects the characters, and they will comment on it (at the end of the game, Mars will regret that he could not save her).

Jagen (Jagen) – Veteran of Altheus knights and faithful defender of Mars. Powerful unit of advanced class Paladin in the first book. Because of his age, he no longer takes part in the battles and becomes a personal tactic and strategist of Mars. (It is strange of course, because he only passed since the end of the last war, he was not so old. Apparently, the wounds received, coupled with age, prevented participations in the battles).

Malledus (Malledus) – The senior tactics of Mars in the first book, telling the legend of Henri, as well as before the battles and after them, reports new information about the enemy and about the further route. Due to illness in the second book on post tactics, Jagen replaces it.

Hardin (Hardin) – Prince and younger brother of King Aurelis. Joins in the campaign of Mars against Medeus troops. At the end of the first book, he marries Princess Nina and becomes the new King of Arcane. Will have a direct impact on the events of the second book.

Nina (Nyna) – Princess Arcane and the only surviving member of the royal family. During the War of the shadows, she was saved by the enemy Grand Grass Kamus and was taken to the army of Hardin. She trust Mars of the Emblem of Fire. At the end of the first book, he marries Hardin.

So, we are familiar with more or less significant characters, now we can directly move on to the history of the second book by Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem. Unlike Gaiden, where all the chapters were huge, which included many battles, the new part returns to the roots and is again divided into standard 20-25 chapters. Although in total with the first and second book, it turns out almost 50 chapters of a pure, magnificent and in no way of not complicated gameplay … Have Fun, Children ..

After hearing a short preface, Mars arrives at the lice roster along with fresh recruits, completely new characters that you naturally do not remember, because whoever they will not tell you … but I will tell you. Our heroes leave the grast and are to the borders of Macedon. We are informed that after the war of the shadows, Princess Minerva elected a peaceful policy of the state, trying to restore the country tormented by the war and reform the army. She expelled all the rebellious and aggressive generals, but soon they led by the general RUCKE (RUCKE) raised the uprising and overthrew the princess. Now Mars will have to punish the conspirators. This card can already cause difficulties. The enemy is located on the central island, which can be moved to if you lower the bridge. But it is better to go around the left side to get to the parallers that joined us at the beginning of the battle, which alone holding back the onslaught of enemies. Also in the village in the northeast you can recruit Julian, who says that Lena was abducted. With the help of a thief, you can recruit her brother Matias, who is currently fighting on the side of Macedon. Then we kill the general’s hand and capture the fortress. Surprisingly, we do not find Princess Minerva here, but soon the Lang arrives and reports that the royal children were abducted, and he orders Mars to return them. The prince has patience and he openly opens against. Lang declares Mars a traitor and runs back to the empire, but we are going to save Julia and Jubelo.

Mars failed to get to Minerva, so he decides to find Vendell, the current archmage of Kadin, who was a mentor and guardian of the children of Grast. Well, of course, in chests (one of the fragments will lie on this map in the chest). Mars promises to help in search of, and goes on, deciding to look into Temple of the Raman.

Mars with knights is in the vicinity of the temple of the Raman. In the beginning, we see how in the forest the robbers are surrounded by Navarre, as well as a girl FINA (Phina), which is a dancer with a very “bright” character who has fought off from his group of stray artists. In the north-west, Arcane troops were located, led by Astraram, Bridge further north. In addition to the Astraram chasing us from the south (unless of course, we did not kill him in the last chapter), from the north we are attacked by the Paladines, led by Emperor Hardin, who looks extremely ominous and menacingly. The fortress that must be captured is guarded by George, who can be convinced to join us if Gordin talks to him. A hard part is that if we want to recruit all possible allies, we will have to tinker.

The fact is that next to the middle of the bridge there is a small peninsula with the village. If Mars visits it, then Bantu will join us. The difficulty is that the path to the village is about a few moves, and all this time our troops will have to hold the bridge. And yes, if we try to attack Hardin, then an unpleasant surprise awaits us – all our attacks are absolutely ineffective, but the answer from the emperor is able to send almost any unit to the other world from the first pok, so I do not recommend attacking him (unless you are a fierce pervert, sending all his warriors to the death of all his soldiers … like me). After we captured the fortress, Altea’s troops give Mars the chance to escape, and after a distracting maneuver, they catch up in the Kadyn desert.

Mars reunite with its knights and continues to go to the cademan. Immediately upon arrival, Jagen informs us that the local magicians are hostile to Altea. Before the start of the battle, we also observe how Mikalis arrives in the northeastern village, bringing a wounded minerva with him. He reports that the army of Mars arrived in Kadin, and it will soon save the princess. Actually, if the prince of Altea visits this village, Minerva will join us.

The battle is not particularly complicated, the main thing is to set units with a large resistance indicator, and capable of moving around the desert without fines. Well, naturally, we try to do everything quickly, because the Astrans and his troops pursue Mars. Having dealt with local magicians, we continue our journey inside the city of magic.

Kadin – an independent state of magic. The current archmage and, part -time, the ruler of Kadem is Wendell. But not so long ago, he left his homeland, going in search of 12 fragments, leaving his best students to look outside the city: Morica and Arlena (Arlen).

And now we see how Arlene attacks Morika, accusing him of betrayal. Arlen himself supports Arkanei, he also see a terrible envy in the spirit: “Uuu, why our teacher chose you, and not me. ". And so, from the very beginning we have Merik, surrounded by enemies, who needs to be taken out as quickly as possible so that he is not killed. We continue the way to the north, and Kzein leads us through the boiling lakes of the lava, the place where he said, wild dragons remained. Now it is interesting that the dragons previously ruled the continent, but after an unknown illness that turned them into crazy and wild creatures, most of them disappeared. One part, wanting to avoid this fate, took on the appearance of people, and enclosed her strength in stones – they all became man study. The other part of the dragons could not abandon her former appearance and, in the end, was drunk.

Now, all dragons here want to break the army of Altea into parts. We need to cross the bridge, remembering the vulnerability of flying dragons, and about the slowness of foot. As soon as we capture the local fortress, Mars continues its journey into the frosty mountains.

As a result, we get to the final destination – Ice Dragon Temple Temple. The temple itself is located in the center of the map on the island surrounded by a spiral river. The main thing is to remember about flying dragons, and try to choose units who can wade the river, such as mercenaries and archers. By securing the entrance inside the temple, Kzein reports that now he will personally participate in the battle. Mars goes on, in search of GOOD.

The Army of the Altea turned out to be inside the temple, flooded with a bunch of crazy ice dragons. Kzein also told us the story that Tiki is the daughter of the goddess Nagi (NAGA), and is located hidden in the temple in constant hibernation, so that its strength does not destroy humanity. I will tell you more about this important for a series of girls another time. Now the main thing is that the temple consists of three rooms, two of which are not yet available to us. We definitely need it, because without it we will not be able to recruit tiki in the room on the right. By the way, there is a secret store on this map, but you can only get there with a WARP staff – it is located near the lake, outside the walls of the temple. After the completion of all our affairs, we capture the throne room (room on the left) and go to free Altea.

Now, in order for Abel to join us, either Mars or Est should talk to him. We capture the city, remembering the ballists, after which the battle continues already in its walls.

After Altea was liberated, Mars can only destroy the remaining Arcane troops, settled inside the fortress. There are a treasury with a bunch of chests on the left side of the castle. Also there awaits us with asters with their warriors (unless of course we killed him in previous chapters) – in order for him to join us, George should talk to him. After that, the throne room will open, with a bunch of magicians and knights. The main thing is to lure one at a time, and the rest will not be problems. After the battle, the prince receives The sphere of the earth (Earthsphere) And we are again connected with us, and reports that Princess Alice was abducted by Garnef and instructs Mars to go to Arkanei, and stop the crazy Hardin.

Mars leaves Altea again, heading for the capital of Arcane, but in its way there is the kingdom of grade. The throne is now sitting Tire (Sheena), The daughter of the previous king Joyla. The inhabitants of Arkanei met Mars as a liberator, and all that remained – Hardin and his bodyguards. All the most powerful and pumped units we wipe through the remaining Arcane warriors. Media will be captured next to Hardin. And so, as already mentioned, the emperor is completely invulnerable. Before that, he told us that everything was because of Dark sphere (DarkSphere), which perverted Hardin.

In order to inflict damage to him, the attacker should have a sphere of light. After the defeat, Hardin admits to all his sins, and the fact that he was pushed by the unrequited love for Nina to these crimes. Now the most interesting thing is that there is a bad ending in the game (suddenly, is it not true?). If we have not collected all five spheres by this moment, then the game ends after all four abducted girls come suddenly: Maria, Lena, Alice and Nina … and the credits. “What it was?", The question arose. The answer to it will be the following. If by the time of the victory over Hardin we will have all five spheres, they will stand in their rightful place inside the emblem of fire, which Mars carried with them. Also, before that, he told us that the fire emblem along with five spheres is a powerful artifact – Binding shield (Binding Shield). And as soon as four girls come, under the influence of an artifact, they will take their true appearance of the dark priests of Garneff – so he wanted to deceive Mars and kill when he loses vigilance. Then the game continues. We go for Garneth to the lands of dragons.

The driven Goto, the army of Altea gets to Wyvern Valley In the north of Macedon. There is located there Dragon Temple, in which Garnef disappeared. The chapter is essentially simple, but there will be many strong opponents against us, like dragons and dark priests. In the northeast there is a village in which Mars can find a dying Mikalis, which will give us Tom Starlight necessary for victory over a dark pontiff. Having reached the temple, he gets ready to understand the plan of Garnef – he intends to make four “pure heart” girls as a sacrifice to arouse the true form of Medeus.

And so, now the most difficult final battle begins. In fact, the next three chapters are not separate, but rather parts of one large chapter (therefore, the subsequent names of the chapters are taken from their remake). This means two things: the first one will not be preserved between them (great, though!?), and the second is the units that you will take into the final battle in any case, since you can’t get new or replace the old ones (you can’t replace the old ones (even better. ). And so, the most important thing: your team must have Sirius, Minerva, Julian and Merrick, a couple of additional magicians and priests will also not interfere, and the rest are at your discretion. And so, the first part – we wipe through the crowds of dragons and dark priests along narrow corridors and capture this area. Then we move on.

You need to be very careful here, because Garnif and many dragon magicians are against us. To win a dark pontiff, a pumped magician with Tom Starlight is needed, and after death from Garnef a fake sword will fall from him, which will be much easier to kill Medeus.

We get to Medeus in his dragon form, surrounded by four abducted girls, and many dragons. Fortunately, at the beginning of the battle, the power of the connecting shield expels the rest of the enemies. Girls are under the spell, and they will not let anyone in to Medeus.

In order not to kill them, special people should talk to them: with Maria – Minerva, with Alice – Merric, with Lena – Julian, and with Nina – Sirius (by the way, according to the dialogue between the characters, we must already guess that Sirius is none other than Kamus, the former general of Grast, who was considered to be dead). After the liberation of the girls, it remains only to stick the fake into the skull of Medeus (which is not particularly simple …).

After the victory, Mars and Kaeda (if you survived, of course) are going to get married, and the rest are scattered where. Mars becomes the only ruler of the entire continent. We are shown by brief epilogues of all other characters, and how their fate has developed.

This is how the plot of the second book by Fire Emblem: Mystery of Emblem turned out. The history of the war of heroes, in which, according to tradition, evil was defeated, and the good has triumphed. Sounds a little corny, but you can’t get anywhere from the plot of those times. In addition, the very content, central characters and the expanded ENT of this world make history much deeper than it seems at first glance. What will you see some other time … Heh.

And so, now in line the gameplay, which has undergone significant changes. It is worth saying that in Mystery of the Emblem developers abandoned many gameplay innovations presented in Fire Emblem Gaiden, such as: Movements in the world, visiting various hubs of locations and study of the caves. Yes, it was now impossible to return to previous locations in which opponents spoke randomly to fill a couple of extra levels, not to regret the dungeons either. The controversial decision, in fact, is thus in the new part a limited number of characters will be pumped with a limited number of experience. And in the case of losses, it will be very difficult to pump new units somewhere in the middle of the game, not only because of the increased force of opponents, but also their limited amounts. Buying from merchants between combat cards as soon as possible, you will have to find shops, gunsmiths and arenas in separate units (which also returned).

Many curious mechanics working directly on the battlefield were also abandoned in a distant box until better times. Classes change are again made through special items in the character’s inventory, like the emblem of the hero. I have already said that this is a little ambiguous, since it has its minuses and pluses, when compared with the previous way to increase the class from Gaiden, namely in special altars.

Inventory also returned to a more familiar state: five slots for weapons and four for various objects, such as healing potions. The margin of safety of all weapons in the game also returned: swords, spears, axes, volumes and staff. Yes, now health on magic was not consumed, but you could carry it up to four healing inactives with three times use – we live longer, we fight better. But the old problem from the original Fire Emblem is returned – the need to monitor the wear of the weapon and timely purchase a new one, so with one rusty sharpening to go through the whole game as in Gaiden, for good or to the worse. At the same time, it became noticeable that Mars became a walking escort … That is, in fact, it always has almost direct access to all objects and weapons that are available to the player – this is a kind of storage – which, by the way, is convenient. And so that the rest can access the convoy, they need to approach Mars during the battle, and then the corresponding option to appear on the menu when choosing a character.

But at the same time rudiments Support System left approximately in the same state, that is, in a state of embryo. In Gaiden, she was available only to Alma and Selik, expressed in an increased chance of critical damage. Now all the characters who sympathize with each other are in love or related connections, have Support System. All this affects a slight increase in damage if the characters with such ties fight next to each other. A drop in the sea, but at least something to start. (Oh, you can’t imagine what it will result in the future). Well, for the rest, add -ons on trifles, such as animating health restoration in the fort, which did, for example, more obvious. And, and even before their death, the characters can say something in the end, instead of dry and laconic communication from the original “Unit died” ..

As you can see, the game has become flush graphically, and this applies to everything: the landscape, characters, other environment, menu and interface – everything has been improved. The dialogs between the characters are now framed in beautiful frames, portraits of heroes look juicier and accurate. In the battle, in terms of graphics, more serious changes have occurred. Now the soldiers fought not just on the black canvas, but against the backdrop of the blue sky, deserts, mountains and internal corridors of castles. The interface during Autoboy also made a more pleasant eye. With the sprites of the characters and at all beauty – not only did the spells of all units add in details and colors, but also the models of all weapons differed from each other. That is, now the conditional iron sword differs from steel (earlier all types of weapons were the same, for obvious reasons).

But the most important addition, or rather improvement, was the illumination of the boundaries of the possible movement of the character when choosing it. No, I seriously, this is really a very convenient and correct solution that very strongly accelerated the game process, making it more pleasant. Previously, the player when choosing Unit did not understand how far he could walk, moving the cursor as much as possible. Now there is no such hemorrhoids, and we calmly move the units on the map. After a long game, the process of movement will reach automatism. In the original, I could not get used to the initial gameplay and therefore suffered (which does not mean that I did not suffer here, but for other reasons). In general, the battles have become more dynamic, spectacular and, most importantly, faster, which over time will only become better and better. And after a very long passage, you will pray that the battles end as quickly as possible.

"Now you can walk again, my horseman"

As has repeatedly said, the game is essentially the very first Fire Emblem, only in a 16-bit wrap, therefore, classes here are as close as possible to the original, with the exception of a couple of additions and improvements. Unlike Gaiden here again, almost all units have only one shooting range, and the characters with axes are again present. And since since the first part of the old units, nothing has changed much, I don’t see the meaning of repeating. Therefore, we move on to the story of beginners, of which a little … or rather one ..

Dancer (Dancer) -The new class debuted in this part, often performs the support function, due to its class unique ability "Dance" (Dance). When the dancer is near Unit, who has already finished his move, she can use the “dance”, giving another character the opportunity to take a full action again. The dancer cannot be increased, so its pumping is limited to 30 levels, unlike the standard 20. In general, the dancer helps very well in tactical maneuvers, when one strong character needs to destroy several opponents, or get to the right place in one move. But you are unlikely to send the dancer to a full battle, and all because of its low characteristics. The low value of health makes it very fragile, and the power is so small that the dancer will be able to kill except for the priest, and even then from two moves. Has a 30% level of growth rate primarily in speed, skill, protection, resistance and strength. But it is very difficult to pump the dancer (for this she will have to give her to finish off enemies, which is extremely inconvenient). The main characteristic, namely speed, you will use only to increase the chance of evasion. But you will not apply any serious damage, so it is better to keep it at a safe distance. The dancer has swords, and not very effective. The only representative of this class in the game is the final.

It is also necessary to recall all the riders: not only on horses, but also on wyverns and pegas. The fact is that they all have the opportunity to "dismount" in the game (DISMOUNT). Now, depending on the situation, you can rush your horsemen, and, for example, cross the river for a thing or cross the desert faster. At the same time, we are forcibly in a hurry if we are in a closed room, like locks. At this moment, our units, as it were, acquire another class – Knight (Knight). Knights, depending on the floor, have their own unique output of the class, and they can only use swords instead of their main weapons, so you should stock up on them if you want to take the horsemen with them to the castles. All their characteristics remain the same.

It is also worth mentioning one thing regarding classes. In the first part of Fire Emblem classes Hunter (Hunter) And Heavy knight (Armored Knight) could not be increased, but more advanced classes Horseman (Horseman) And General (General) were separate. Now they opened with an increase in the hunter and the heavy knight, respectively, which cannot but rejoice. Also, as before, there are many classes inaccessible to us, but accessible to our enemy, such as Soldier (Solder) And Berserker (Berserker). Unfortunately, our gunners went to the ranks. And it’s a pity – the class was interesting ..

It is also worth mentioning that at about the same time, after the release of the game, there were several third -party Fire Emblem projects, which acted as a kind of experiment. Well, you know the Japanese-when some Title began to acquire at least some fame, they release a bunch of accompanying media. It seems like manga, which began to go out in 1992, retelling the plot Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light with some additions, but if honestly there is nothing worthy of mention … even roding.

The anime, which was already in 1996, looks more curious. Two -series OVA, again retold the entire plot of games (more precisely began), with additional flashbacks, to delve into the background of Mars even more. And despite the fact that the game itself was still not planned for the Western release, this anime reached America, and even acquired a full -fledged dubbing … that’s how a surprise. In general, the spectacle is tolerable, it is possible to evaluate, the benefit of only two episodes. I’ll say that, I personally looked with pleasure, because I am Man of Culture. And even such a third -party product as anime in the game has contributed to attracting a new Western audience.

Another interesting mention will be that in 1997, a kind of “addition” was released, DLC of that time – Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga. These were 4 additional cards with their history, for a special module SNES SATELLAVIEW. This piece of plastic took a signal from Nintendo, which allowed to play a limited amount of time. In short, a mandatory connection to the Internet for the game of that time (they probably borrowed the idea) … These cards are the background of the first book, the events of which occurred after Mars flew to the island state of Talis, in a two -year period to the first chapter of the first book Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem. No one will succeed in playing them now, but judging by some footage, it looks like an ordinary chapter, except that there are fewer units and the characters for each card are different, telling their unique story.

The new part of the franchise was a truly big step forward for the entire series, and its popularity began to grow even more. Over time, it will become the most successful Fire Emblem by the game of a series of all time in Japan, having surpassed even some more modern franchise games, selling a total of about 750,000 copies. A good result, if you compare many Nintendo mastodons, but, unfortunately, not directly phenomenal. Nevertheless, Fire Emblem deserved its honorable place among other games of that time. Why did she become the most successful and sold by the game of the series, eclipsing in some way a fourth part popular among fans among fans? I have no idea … Personally, I, according to the sensations, played at Mystery of the Emblem as a witcher-about 60 hours. And this is not because of the content in it twice as much, but because of the complexity. In order to go through everything as it should, recruiting all the characters and without losing anyone in all chapters, you need to make competent verified moves and pump your units in the right way. But on the first attempt, it will not work … and the second too … in general, yes, many chapters I started again when I was already approaching their end (which is damn a shame). As a result, I am devastated … And honestly, for me, Fire Emblem Mystery of the Emblem did not become the game that became for fans of the series. Although I am a fan myself, I am not going to go through it again, I can recommend to get acquainted with it, although with emulation and installing a more or less adequate English translation, I will have to confuse a little.
